There was a man walking around at Six Flags over Georgia with the tetragrammaton on his shoulder....I had the same reaction, odd but interesting.

Does the WTS say Facebook is a bad thing?
by lavendar in.
do the elders try to advise members against using facebook for some reason??
curious......

My Struggle
This seems to be more of a congregation-to-congregation kind of deal. I was a member of a JW facebook group, but got kicked out :( They did not want anyone asking questions.....haha

To answer the original question, yes Facebook/Myspace are bad. I don't know of anything that the WBTS has or has not said on the issue, but I know of one local congregation that banned it. It was addressed in a local needs part for the Russellville, Alabama congregation about two years ago, they said that if anyone had a profile on either site they would have to remove.

The cost of going undercover to help family and friends - Is it worth it?
by BonaFide inso all of you that are trying to help your family and friends as a disassociated person, or disfellowshipped, or sort-of-shunned.. what do you think about getting reinstated or reactivated to help them get out?.
the time invested would be two meetings a week, about 6 hours total including driving.
for those on the outside, you would have to get reinstated, so you would need 2-3 months of going to meetings making sure the elders see you and know your intention.. add field service in there.

My Struggle
I truly understand your heart. However, I don't understand your strategy for outing your family. I think that your premise might be something like, Witnesses take criticism of the Society better if it is coming from someone that is within the Organization and through that you hope to open eyes and hearts. To me this only works because the criticism is closed, in the sense that the criticism does not ultimately lead the one in away from their way of life. The people that are in, by in large, understand that there are some flaws within their Organization, some even being willing to discuss the problems within. Sadly their supposition is that ultimately the Society is correct and will work problems out over time. If the criticism comes from outside they immediately turn off reasoning, as I suppose, because they perceive it as a threat of toppling their way of life, versus just relatively harmless questions from those within.
So, my question to you is this; How do you now open their eyes? They already know your past and will be wary of any such criticism or questioning, it will be a tough balance for you balancing the perception between rank and file and a closet apostate. I don't meant to be discouraging, I just wonder about how you are going to walk the line. I wish you well, really!

Would you rather see the WTS move mainstream or just collapse in a heap?
by ThomasCovenant inmaybe eventually the wts will adapt and change and try to go mainstream.. as 'new shite' shines brightly then;.
maybe eventually celebrating birthdays and even christmas will be 'allowed' without too many repercussions.. maybe eventually the 'blood' issue will fade away and 'brothers' wil be allowed the whole lot of fractions together at the same time.. maybe eventually disfellowshipping and particularly shunning will be seen as unloving and done away with.. personally i would rather this wouldn't happen.. i would prefer to see the wts collapse in the mire even with all the emotional fallout there would be to those still in having their crutches pulled away from them.. i don't want the wts to modify and adapt and go more gentle on the rank and file.. i want them to get more harsh with the brothers.. i want it to go down, not along.. am i being too cruel to those still in?.
would the more loving caring attitude be to hope that the wts changes for the better?.

Comments from today's meeting -- Following the Lamb!
by Ultimate Reality ini went today because i wanted to hear the comments on this wt article.. it did not disappoint.
one comment that summed things up:.
"i know i can trust the slave because everything i have ever read from the slave has been for my benefit.

paragraph 12: "the faithful slave is also discreet in that it neither acts immodestly, running ahead of Jehovah, nor lags behind."
HAHA. This is them saying they never err. It would be great to quote this and then show other quotes about waiting on Jehovah to change things within the organization.

NT "ho theos", and John 8: 58
by hamsterbait inthe wt says that if john 1 : 1 said the word is god it would have put the word "ho" before theos.. john 20; 28 refers to christ as ho theos.. john 8: 58 in nwt is "before abraham came into existence i have been" (prin abraham genesthai ego en) but the w&h greek text reads "prin abraham genesthaiego eimi".
there are three footnotes in the three editions of nwt to this:.
"perfect indefinite tense" - is this a greek or hebrew tense?.
